A Georgia church offered a practical gift to more than 150 unsuspecting mothers Saturday that they'll cherish at least until their gas tank's empty.
Mothers who pulled into the Exxon gas stations in Marietta were greeted by Enlightened Christian Church members, who pumped and paid for their gas Saturday afternoon.
The Marietta church gave away $3,000 worth of gas as a part of its Mother’s Day Extravaganza weekend, pastor Bryant Bell said.
“The Lord gave us the idea,” Bell said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We just kept giving it away until we ran out of money for it.”
In addition to the gas giveaway, members of the church’s Men Unlimited ministry also served free meals to mothers in the community at their church.
“We’re a creative church. We’re always thinking of new ways to do outreach,” Bell said. “It allows us to be a blessing to a lot of people.”
