It was a busy night for the Brookhaven Police Department.
Brookhaven Lt. J. Vanaman posted on the department's Facebook page about his experience delivering a baby and then not an hour later, catching a burglary suspect in the city.
Vanaman wrote that he responded to a call of a woman in labor around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Just minutes later, he helped the woman deliver a baby boy into his hands. He described the moment as "humbling."

The baby was healthy and was named Mateo Alexander Bibiano.
Just minutes later, around 10 p.m., Vanaman and other officers were called to a burglary-in-progress at a home on the other side of the city.
According to the Facebook post: "Officers quickly located the offender in the woods and a foot chase ensued. But two blocks and a fence couldn't stop Officer DiCicco, who took the burglar into custody less than 10 minutes after the call was received. It was later determined he is wanted by Fulton County for burglary there, as well."
Vanaman says serving people is what keeps him going.
"You see it's about serving people. It's what fuels me, it's what drives me and it's what sustains me. It is what God has created me to do, to serve people."
