Want to learn more about the Springfield Police? Join citizen’s academy

The Springfield Police Division is hosting its 20th Citizen’s Police Academy. This informational class is open to the public and class size is limited.

This class is held one night a week for a twelve week period. Each class deals with a different, police related topic. Among the topics discussed will be police use of force, traffic, K-9 operations, SWAT deployment, active shooter and use of the police shooting simulator.

The class will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and runs from Thursday, Feb. 4, through April 21. This course is offered free of charge and there are no physical requirements other than attendance. An application and background check is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
