His initial charges — domestic violence and endangering children — were dismissed.
On Dec. 6, White reportedly struck his son, who was 18 months old at the time, after he “touched an ornament on the Christmas tree,” court records read. The incident reportedly left “a red mark through a pair of pajamas and a diaper.”
White was also accused of striking his son on Christmas after the child grabbed a screwdriver and reportedly threw it on the floor.
The incident left “a hand/fingerprint marks on the victim,” according to court documents.
Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating White in after the child’s mother said she feared for the boy’s safety, according to court affidavit.

“Upon speaking with the (mother), she provided numerous photographs of what appeared to be a large hand print on the right buttocks and backside of the right thigh area of the child,” the affidavit says. “(The woman) stated that this has occurred approximately five separate times within the past six months.”
A victim advocate from the Mechanicsburg Police Department at the hearing Thursday expressed concerns about the plea deal.
"Domestic violence, as I said in court, is a process, not an event," said Karen Salerno.
"The incidents that led up to this latest incident, had been going on for some time. It just makes me concerned that it will continue."
She added that she hopes White learns from the incident and can have a “healthy relationship with his son.”
The boy’s mother said that her goal is to continue supporting her child.
“I don’t want to be in this situation,” she said. “All I want to do is protect my son as any mother would do.”
White is a K9 handler for OSP out of the Piqua post.
He was placed on administrative leave immediately after being charged.
