Things to do in the Miami Valley if it rains on Halloween

Rain is expected on Halloween, but it doesn’t have to ruin your fun.

Rain showers are expected to return on Halloween, likely by morning with rounds of rain expected throughout the day and evening. Showers will fall hard at times, with possible ponding on the roads by the end of the day.

A Flood Watch has been issued for most of the Miami Valley from Wednesday at 8 p.m. until Friday at 8 a.m. Counties affected include: Champaign, Clark, Greene, Clinton, Montgomery, Preble, Butler and Warren. Highs peak in the low 60s with winds gusting around 20 to 25 mph again. Trick-or-treating will be soggy and cool.

Here are some things to do if trick-or-treat fun is rescheduled for the rain:

1. The Sanderson sisters are back! Where to watch Hocus Pocus at local theaters

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic movie "Hocus Pocus," some local theaters are screening the flick for the Halloween season. Ditch the rain and watch the popular movie in theaters. HERE'S WHERE

2. Pumpkin Glow

This is a Dayton tradition that spans more than two decades. Join in the fun and help carve pumpkins and then see them all aglow. The Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow has opened carving to the general public this year. The community is invited to gut and carve pumpkins in a heated tent near Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 N. Belmonte Park N., from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. the Friday to Monday of Oct. 26, 27, 28 and 29. The free community pumpkin glow will take place 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 and Wednesday, Oct. 31 on the hill next to the church.

Adventures on the Great Miami is hosting a pumpkin glow, too
