Local gold-medal winners were Eudora Brewing Company’s Mother Fuggle, which earned the top award in the Brown/Dark Ale category, and Dayton Beer Company, which scored gold for its Jalapeno Face in the Herb/Spice/Pepper category.

Competition was robust this year. Last year, in its inaugural event, the Ohio Craft Brewers Cup attracted 220 entries from 40 breweries throughout Ohio. This year, 368 beers were entered by 62 breweries for evaluation by panels of judges that included professional brewers, certified beer judges and journalists from throughout the state. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 27 categories.

Overall regional brewery winners based on medal points earned included Thirsty Dog, Market Garden, Taft's Brewing Company, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing, Upside Brewing, Jackie O's Brewery and The Dayton Beer Company, which won the designation of “Best West Central Brewery” based on weighted medal points.

MadTree Brewing won best large brewery based on medal points, and other winners based on their size/brewing capacity were Wolf's Ridge Brewing, Taft's Brewing Company, and Narrow Path Brewing.
