This bridge model at the Heritage Center represents an 1837 bridge that was the last federally funded bridge built on the National Road.
The model was made from 1,700 pieces of salvaged wood from the original, which was removed in 1926 and replaced in 1928.
The connecting pins that held the original bridge together were made by Mrs. Christine (Doctor) Herr of Donnelsville who had a five-year contract from the U.S. Government to make wooden pins for bridges on the National Road.
