A traffic stop on I-70 in Madison County has led to the seizure of a marijuana haul worth at least $165,000 on the street and the arrest of a Maryland man, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Monday.
Jeb McWade, 36, of Lincoln Park, remains in the Tri-County Jail on a felony charge of drug possession (marijuana). Bond is set at $30,000 and he is expected in court this week, according to online jail records.
Troopers on the afternoon of April 24 stopped a vehicle on I-70 in Madison County for registration because of a violation involving failing to stay in marked lanes.
Troopers said they alerted to "criminal indicators" and a drug-detecting K-9 alerted to the vehicle, a 2012 Honda Accord. The search turned up an estimated 33 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $165,000 on the street, according the state patrol.
McWade, if convicted, could be sentenced up to three years in prison and fined $10,000.
