The Palace Hotel, located on the southwest corner of Fountain Avenue and Washington Street, was built in 1885 by Robert Flack Sr.

This photo from around 1900 shows the Palace Café and Restaurant and the 1876 Central Engine House to the left. The Palace was renamed the Fountain Hotel around 1916 and in the 1930s it became the Hotel Frances.

Today, Fountain Avenue doesn't intersect with Washington Street and the main branch of the Clark County Library is in the location.
