The Springfield Fricker’s, along with local businesses and residents, will give back to the kids in the community through a trunk or treat.

Fricker’s first trunk or treat is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the Fricker’s parking lot, 1616 Upper Valley Pike.

“In our Frickin Philosophy there are four points. One of those four points is to have a positive influential impact on the communities in which we live,” Fricker’s General Manager Jordan Riffitt said. “That’s what I always try to do.”

The Fricker’s management team decided to host a trunk or treat to provide a family fun event for kids who do not get to go trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods.

“Doing something for the kids is what we wanted to do,” Riffitt said. “We could always do more for the kids.”

On the night of trunk or treat, Fricker’s will have a a bounce house, games, and several giveaways.

The grandprize winner of “the best trunk contest” will receive a Fricker’s gift basket including a $50 Fricker’s gift card.

Riffitt said over 20 local businesses including PNC Bank and the German Twp. Fire and Police Department have committed to participating. Regular customers at Fricker’s donated candy to the trunk or treat and are planning to attend.

“It’s a good opportunity for businesses to do free advertising and give back to the kids,” Riffitt said.

Fricker’s is a family-owned restaurant with 24 locations across Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. Employees from other Dayton-area Fricker’s will participate in the trunk or treat.

“I definitely did not anticipate it to be what it is becoming, but it’s super exciting,” Riffitt said. “We hope to have a great turnout so we can keep doing it.”
