Sheriff: Fairborn bomb threat was ‘extortion attempt’ on senior citizen

“This looks like a lottery scam that ballooned into an extortion attempt on a local senior citizen,” Fischer said.

The Dayton Bomb Squad was called to the home to examine a briefcase after the victim received the bomb threat, Fischer said.

While no explosive devices were ever found, Fischer said detectives are processing evidence that was collected and more information about the case may be released later this week.

“We encourage everyone to consider and evaluate the offers we all receive. Are they just too good to be true? Don’t fall for the tricks,” Fischer said.
