I-75 ramp changes continue for Friday commute

New ramps have opened and another has closed on I-75 through the downtown Dayton area in the final stage of the construction project.

NEW RAMPS:

  • The I-75 northbound ramp to Second Street has opened
  • The Third Street ramp to I-75 northbound has opened
  • The First/Second Street ramp to I-75 southbound has opened.
  • The I-75 south ramp to Third Street will reopen Friday in the late evening.

RAMPS CLOSING

  • I-75 north ramp to Main Street, the ramp is now closed and will remain closed through Aug 15. The official detour is: I-75 north to Stanley Avenue to I-75 south to Main Street

When the highway work is completed — that could happen as soon as September — there will be three continuous lanes going north and south as well as long ramps into downtown. The ramps should eliminate the need for tricky lane-hopping to get on or off the highway.

If it’s completed by Sept. 1, contractor Kokosing Construction Company could earn a $3 million bonus

The final phase of the multi-year project began in 2012. By the time the work on I-75 is completed, $300 million will have been spent on five miles of interstate over nine years.
