Preble County Sheriff makes 2nd arrest in ongoing drug trafficking investigation

A 20-year-old West Manchester man remains in jail on $100,000 cash bond as the second person arrested in the Preble County Sheriff's continuing drug trafficking investigation in the county.

William Dawson has been in jail since his arrest Feb. 1 resulting from a search warrant executed at an apartment on East Orchard Street in West Manchester, where he lived, Sheriff Mike Simpson's office said.

Deputies seized approximately 46 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 3 grams of cocaine. Deputies also found items used in drug trafficking.

Dawson was arrested Feb. 1 in Butler County on drug-related charges, released and transferred seven days later to the Preble County Jail on the following charges: aggravated trafficking in Drugs (2 counts); aggravated drug possession and drug possession in cocaine (all felonies); and misdemeanor illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dawson has four felony cases pending in Preble County Common Pleas Court occurring from June to December 2018, and the recent felony case in Butler County.

Bond in the Preble County case has been set at $100,000 cash or surety by Eaton Municipal Court.

"This is the second arrest since January 11th by the Sheriff's Office involving suspects who are believed to

be trafficking drugs in Preble County," Simpson said in a prepared statement.

He said his office will continue to focus on street-level dealers.
