The Reds will now open the 2018 season against the Washington Nationals at 4:10 p.m. today at Great American Ballpark. According to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar, the forecast calls for cooler temperatures, but more dry weather.
"We'll see decreasing clouds throughout the day Friday with temperatures around 50 degrees for first pitch," Collar said.
By the time the game ends, we'll be back in the middle 40s with more clouds clearing. Be sure to grab the coat if you have plans to head out to Great American Ballpark.
If you feel like we’ve seen nothing but rain for opening day lately, you would be correct. According to data from the National Weather Service, rain has fallen on opening day at Great American Ballpark the last few years, through 2015. The last dry opening day that we had was in 2014.
The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed due to rain and thunderstorms.
What do I do with my tickets since Opening Day has been rescheduled?
If you purchased a ticket through the Cincinnati Reds you can save your ticket and retain the exact same seat to the rescheduled game on Friday with no exchange necessary. If you purchased through the Reds you also have the option of obtaining a ticket to another game at the face value of your rain out ticket.
Fans holding a ticket purchased through a third party vendor such as StubHub may use their same ticket for the make-up game with no exchange necessary.
