Need to turn off location services on your smartphone? Here’s how

You may have heard that Google is tracking you, even if you have turned off location services on your smartphone.

However, if you want to keep Google from keeping an eye on where you are there are steps you can follow.

First, go to Google.com and sign in with your email address and password.

According to cnet.com, if you have an iPhone, click on the upper right grid and then click “Account” and scroll down to “Personal Info and Privacy.”

Keep scrolling until you can click on “My Activity.”

Look to the upper left, there’s a three-line menu button, sometimes called a hamburger. Click on it. Then, click on “Activity Controls.”

There you can toggle off and pause “Web and App Activity.”

This will keep Google from pinpointing your location.

On an Android phone, you will find “Web and App Activity” under “Data and Personalization.”

Keep in mind that turning off web and app activity can prevent certain apps that need to use your location from working properly.
