Company officials said the International CV series was designed to be customizable to serve workers in various industries.
“When a start-up business moves to the scale-up stage, the International CV Series provides a truck that will take their business to the next level,” said Michael Cancelliere, Navistar’s president of Truck and Parts in a news release. “We’ve designed, built and tested the CV Series to deliver the commercial-grade power, reliability and practicality that growing businesses require, along with the comfort, safety features and easy drivability that drivers appreciate.”
Navistar is a significant employer locally, with about 1,800 workers in the facility. Thousands of the company’s retirees also live in the area. The company is in ongoing negotiations with the UAW, and both sides recently avoided a work stoppage. Members of the UAW had agreed to extend the terms of their existing contract, but briefly ended that deal last month for about two days. The sides eventually agreed to return to the terms of the existing contract and resume negotiations.
