During the third year of the Springfield Art Council’s Summer Arts Festival in 1969, productions were held at the Snyder Park shelter house, at the Springfield Museum of Art, and at the amphitheater in Cliff/Veterans Park.

The month-long lineup included “The Sound of Music,” “Brigadoon,” a puppet show “Cinderella,” the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, local bands, choirs, choruses, and plays.

The July 20 show seen here is the Mad River Jazz Festival, under the direction of well-known and loved local musician and instructor Harold “Hap” Ashenfelter.
