The Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting this morning for the city’s newest hotel.

Located at 194 S. Progress Drive on the city’s growing west side, Hampton Inn and Suites is an 88-room hotel that features an indoor pool, fitness center, meeting room, business center and dining area for breakfast.

The hotel’s completion comes several months after it was initially projected to open at the end of 2017. The delays were attributed in part to a labor shortage.

The addition of the hotel, owned by Indiana-based Tashi Hospitality Inc. under the Hilton brand, comes with a property tax abatement agreement with the city.

Under the agreement, Tashi Hospitality is to receive a 90 percent tax abatement on the increased property value of the land for the first six years, then 70 percent for the following two years, according to the city.

The hotel is expected to employ about 20 people.
