Investigators said fire alarms in the damaged house went off and woke up neighbors, who then called 911.

Nearby homeowners said they were upset if this fire was intentionally set, due to the extreme heat this morning and through this weekend.

“It’s unnecessary ... if somebody would (intentionally set the fire),” neighbor Shanice Dawson said. “It’s not right. Because its putting (the firefighters’) lives in danger by coming out to deal with it.”
“It’s just ridiculous,” neighbor Rubekah Malone said. “If somebody started the fire, then that’s insane. It’s too hot.”
Investigators said the blaze is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
Malone hopes investigators are able to pinpoint the cause and determine if someone intentionally set it.
“There are too many kids out here,” Malone said. “We don’t need things like this to happen out here.”

Fire crews have requested a second alarm to respond to a house fire at the intersection of Farlow and Thrasher streets in Springfield.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries.

FIRST REPORT
Firefighters have responded to reports of a house fire near the intersection of Farlow and Thrasher streets in Springfield Friday morning.
Crews were dispatched around 7 a.m. and reported heavy smoke coming from the structure.
Initial reports indicate firefighters had to force entry into the structure to search for any possible occupants.
