Fatality identified in New Carlisle motorcycle crash

A New Carlisle man was killed in a motorcycle crash today.

Nicholas Martin, 36, was ejected from his motorcycle after reportedly striking the back of a 1998 Ford F-150 driven by Nathan Burkholder, 19, of New Carlisle.

Martin’s 2005 Yamaha motorcycle struck the back of the truck while Burkholder was attempting to turn left into a private drive. Martin died at the scene.

Burkholder and his two passengers, Kristen Burkholder, 42, and Elle Burkholder, 15, both of New Carlisle, were treated at the scene and released.

Ohio 235 was closed for two hours.

UPDATE @ 1:40 p.m.

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday.

About 12:30 p.m. today, a motorcycle traveling south on Ohio 235 near Scarff Road reportedly ran into the back of a truck that was turning left, officials said.

The motorcyclist, whom was wearing a helmet, died in the crash. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is on scene, and the road will be closed in both directions for another hour.

The truck driver was not injured.

Troopers and medics responded to a reported motorcycle crash on Ohio 235 near Scarff Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield post was dispatched around 12:30 p.m.
