A 23-year-old man is being held in the Greene County Jail as Central State University police investigate sexual assault allegations made against him.
Richard Sweeney II was booked into the jail on Monday afternoon pending formal charges of gross sexual imposition and forcible rape.
Gail Barge, CSU director of university public relations, said the incident was alleged to have occurred Sunday night. It is not clear whether the location of the incident was on campus, she said.
Sweeney, who is not a student, was taken into custody by CSU police on Monday.
The female who made the allegation is a CSU student.
Barge said the university could not comment further during an ongoing investigation.
