Case solved! Public helps Butler Twp. police identify woman found in park

UPDATE @ 9:48 p.m.: Butler Twp. police have been able to identify a woman found hiding in Art Van Atta Park late this afternoon and they are working to notify her husband, police Officer Troy Dexter said.

Someone who saw her photo on the police department's Facebook page was able to help police identify the woman, Dexter said.

INITIAL REPORT

Police are making a public appeal for help in identifying a woman someone saw Thursday afternoon laying in the road in Art Van Atta Park in Butler Twp. who police later took to a hospital.

The woman has told police she believes she is Becky Keller from Batesville, Arkansas.

But, she said she doesn't know how she got here -- Butler Twp. -- and doesn't have any family.

Police, in a post to social media about an hour ago, said the woman had a set of keys with her that have the name "Barbara" on them and told police she took the keys from an unknown house.

Police dispatched to the park about 5:15 p.m. found her hiding in the woods and said she initially could not give them her name or any information about herself. A witness told police saw the woman get up off the road and run into the woods.

She was wearing a yellow T-shirt, white sweater, black pants and Crocs when police found her and took her to a hospital.

Butler Twp. police said they have contacted surrounding police jurisdictions and law enforcement agencies in Batesville, but have not had any luck in establishing the woman's identity.
