The longtime assistant superintendent of Clark-Shawnee schools says he wants to continue to help students succeed now that he is the superintendent.

Also making sure the community feels involved with the school is important to him, he said.

“We want to build positive relationships with our students, staff and stakeholders who we serve and want to know that we care about them and that we are a key part of this community,” he said.

Kuhn inherits a school building project that will see Shawnee High School/ Middle School renovated and the construction of a primary/elementary school.

“It is a very exciting time. We get asked all the time when are we going to start seeing dirt moved. This fall dirt will start moving and that is really exciting.”

Making sure the district is healthy financially is a top priority, Kuhn said, but students are always number one.

“We want to be able to continue the great work our staff does and to help support them as they do these amazing things for kids.”
