Gov. DeWine activates Ohio National Guard members to help deter Akron cyber threat

Eight soldiers and airmen from the Ohio National Guard Cyber Team were activated today to assist the city of Akron against a security threat to their computer networks.

Gov. Mike DeWine authorized the military assistance.

The cyber team’s defense and cyber operations element provides forensic support and analysis as well as defensive operations, according to a press release.

On average, the cyber team annually supports 18 vulnerability and risk assessments for state and local agencies.
