Two Springfield polling locations for four precincts will be permanently moved into one building.

The voting location for city precincts 30 through 33 — previously held at Springfield High School, 701 E. Home Road, and the Clark County Combined Health District, 529 E. Home Road — will both be consolidated into one location at Roosevelt Middle School, 521 E. Home Road.

The change will take place immediately, according to the Clark County Board of Elections. The next election in Springfield will be held on May 8.

The change was made due to parking issues at the high school, board of elections Deputy Director Amber Lopez said. While Springfield City School District voting locations are closed for students on Election Days, Lopez said, the high school held a training for school staff during the November election that led to parking issues for election staff and voters, she said.

With school already closed, it was an easy decision to move the precinct to Roosevelt, Lopez said. It also made sense to consolidate the polling location at the health district across the street into the same building, she said.

“Consolidating locations is always a cost saver,” Lopez said.

There are 3,659 registered voters in those four precincts, she said. Informational mailers will be sent to all voters in those precincts, including parking illustrations and entrance locations.

The last day to register to vote in the May primary election is April 9. Early voting begins April 10.

Residents also can vote by absentee ballot by mail or in-person at the Clark County Board of Elections in the Springview Government Center, 3130 E. Main St.
