Green Twp. Fiscal Officer Sharon Waddle recently resigned after serving more than 20 years in that position.
Waddle’s resignation is effective March 31.
“I have served in this position for over 20 years and feel it is time to move over and let another township resident have an opportunity to serve the township,” Waddle stated in her resignation letter.
Twp. Vice President David Farrell, who began serving as a township trustee in in January 2014, praised Waddle for her years of service.
“In that short amount of time I grew to respect the position because of all it entails and Sharon for the amount of time and work she put into the township,” Farrell said.
Township trustees are now seeking resumes and cover letters until March 1 for fiscal officer.
Fiscal officer responsibilities include preparing payrolls, issuing checks, overseeing the township funds and keeping an accurate account of township accounts and transactions.
Candidates must be 18 or older, a United States citizen, an Ohio resident for at least 30 days prior to the appointment and and a resident of Green Twp., which has about 2,900 residents.
The job is an elected position that works closely with township trustees. The position pays approximately $16,000.
The successful candidate will be appointed by township trustees for the remainder of an unexpired elected term of office through March 31, 2016, according to township officials.
Farrell said the ideal candidate to replace Waddle would likely need government experience.
Trustee President Allen Armstrong said Waddle will be missed.
“She has been a really, really good fiscal officer for us. She has seen a lot of changes. She has always done a good job for us and has always had the best interests of township residents,” Armstrong said.
