The Clark County Sheriff’s Office will provide law enforcement services for both New Carlisle and Moorefield Twp. next year. New Carlisle will spend about $415,000 and Moorefield Twp. will spend about $207,000.

The contracts call for deputies to patrol solely in those areas throughout the day.

The county also approved dispatching contracts for Bethel Twp. ($43,000), Moorefield Twp. ($43,000), German Twp. ($27,000), Pike Twp. ($14,497) and Madison Twp. ($8,766). Last year, the county dispatched for all townships except for Mad River and Green Twps.

The contracts were approved by Clark County commissioners at their meeting this week.

“I’m happy to see that,” Commissioner Lowell McGlothin said. “That’s a good thing.”

The county recently spent $140,000 to hire a consultant to oversee the process of creating a unified countywide 9-1-1 dispatch center.

Last month, commissioners held public hearings on a proposed tax assessment to pay for a $4 million combined 9-1-1 dispatch center but rejected the plan.

In other news, Clark County commissioners also agreed to annex more than 23 acres on Titus Road to the city of Springfield as part of the Silfex project. Silfex is an Eaton-based high-tech manufacturer of silicon products expected to bring 400 jobs to the area with an average salary of $45,000 over the next five years.
