Greenon treasurer leaving for Pickerington

Greenon Local Schools’ treasurer will leave the district April 1 for an Ohio school district east of Columbus, he confirmed this week.

Pickerington Local Schools board members voted Monday night to hire Ryan Jenkins as their treasurer. He accepted the position and will resign from Greenon’s administrative staff effective March 31.

He’s served as Greenon Local Schools since July 2010.

Jenkins came to Clark County in 2004 as a school building administrator in the Northwestern Local Schools district before heading to Graham Local Schools in Champaign County as that district’s treasurer in 2007, he said.

The process for hiring an interim and permanent treasurer is still in the planning stages, Greenon Superintendent Dan Bennett said.

“Board President Dennis Henry is in the process of working with the board to do an interim search and how to move forward (for a permanent replacement),” Bennett said.

A plan will likely not be ready at the district’s March 21 meeting and would likely be meted out at a special board meeting yet to be set. He said an interim treasurer could be named by its April meeting.

“(Jenkins has) done a tremendous job in bringing some stability to the district and a great job of laying a foundation for a plan of finance that has helped us reduce costs and tighten things up,” Bennett said.

“We hate to see him go (while) we’re on the ballot and need to address aging facilities.”
