LISTEN: 911 calls tell of panic outside Springfield bar after brother, sister struck by car

Springfield police are investigating after a car reportedly ran over two people outside the Nite Owl bar on Saturday morning.

The incident involving victims Amber Vollmer and her brother, Joey Gohl, happened just after midnight on Saturday. Vollmer and Gohl were transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley hospital for their injuries.

In the 911 calls obtained by the Springfield News-Sun, the screams and panic can be heard by those trying to alert police.

In one call, a man — presumably Gohl — can be heard trying to shake Vollmer from unconsciousness.

“Amber! Amber, please look at me! Look at me, Amber!,” the caller yells.

Another 9-1-1 call from a bar patron described the seriousness of Vollmer’s injuries.

“The lady can’t even get off the ground. She’s just laying there,” the caller said. “I don’t even think she’s (expletive) breathing.”
