Gary Wayne Anderson, 68, was arrested Saturday evening outside a store in Haines City, WFTS reported. According to police, an officer was inside the store when he heard a loud noise.
According to a release from the Haines City Police Department, Anderson admitted to hitting the cruiser but told police he was drunk and there was no damage to the car, the Ledger reported.
Police said Anderson failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Haines City Police Department, the newspaper reported. Anderson accused police of poisoning him and insisted on being taken to a hospital, according to the Ledger.
At the hospital Anderson submitted to a Breathalyzer test and had a blood alcohol content of .241, WFTS reported. The legal limit in Florida is .08. Police said Anderson also had cocaine in his system, the television station reported.
Anderson's driver's license has been suspended since 1978, the Ledger reported. Police said he has two prior drunk driving convictions, according to the newspaper.
