Wedding band, ring stolen in Springfield home burglary

A Springfield woman reported to police Wednesday that someone had broken into her home and stolen jewelry, including a wedding band and a wedding ring.

Springfield police began their investigation at around 4 p.m. when they were called to a home on the 1000 block of Summer Street in the city, according to a police report.

“When (the victim) arrived home she found her living room and bedroom drawers pulled out and assorted jewelry missing from her home including her wedding band and ring,” the report says. “(The victim) stated that the unknown suspect came in through the west bathroom and exited her home out the back door.”

Someone had broken out a window in the bathroom with a large piece of concrete to gain entry into the home, the report says.

“There was broken glass on the floor and the countertop of the bathroom sink was broken,” the report says. “The bathroom mirror above the sink was broken. There was a gold bracelet near the back door that belonged to (the victim) that appeared to have been dropped by the suspect as they were exiting the home.”

It is still unknown how much jewelry was stolen, the report says, but initial estimates predict more than $1,500 worth.

There are no suspects in the case at this time, the report says.
