3 things to know about Sunday’s homicide in Springfield

Springfield police are investigating a homicide that took place early Sunday morning at a local club.

Here are three things we know right now about the case:

1) 2:47 a.m.

Springfield police responded to the Knights of Pythias on 610 S. Yellow Springs Street Sunday morning for a homicide.

2) Investigation

Springfield police were still on scene at 7 a.m. Sunday morning and were investigating the shooting throughout the day Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Stephen Wagner, 26, of Springfield, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

3) Witnesses

There were witnesses on scene who saw the shooting, according to our reporting.

A woman on scene told WHIO and the Springfield News-Sun she witnessed the shooting.

“Nobody was expecting for that to happen. We just came here to have a good time and then he was gunned down,” the woman said.

The woman said the victim was shot outside of the Knights of Pythias near a fence, but didn’t know who fired shots.
