Springfield woman accused of allowing infant to live in ‘deplorable’ conditions

A Springfield woman is accused of allowing a 1-year-old to live in dirty conditions.

Tiffany Keeler, 25, is charged in Clark County Municipal Court with one count of endangering children. She pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on her own recognizance, court documents say.

The Springfield Police Division began their investigation when they responded to a home on West High Street in July when they were called for an emergency, an affidavit filed with the charges says.

The officers “dealt with the emergency and then took note of the living conditions of the home,” the affidavit says.

They found the living conditions to be “pretty deplorable.”

“There were a lot of bugs in the house,” the affidavit says. “There was water all over the kitchen floor and the refrigerator had hot sauce spilled all over. There was not much foot at all and the food that was in there looked like it was no longer edible. The kitchen sink was also full of water and it had a few dishes in it. The floor your shoes stuck to it as you walked through. There were dog feces about the floor and there was standing water in the basement.”

The affidavit states there was no trash pick up at the home.

“There was trash piled outside the house as well as some inside,” the affidavit says.

Authorities spoke with Keeler on Aug. 9 and she allegedly admitted to the conditions of her house, the affidavit says. She told officials she no longer lives there, but she was arrested and processed on the endangering charge.

No new court date was set in the case, online records indicate.
