2 Springfield shooting victims ID’d

UPDATE @ 1:39 p.m. (Nov. 2):

The victims of two shootings early Wednesday have been identified, according to Springfield Police Division reports.

Kenneth Adams, 51, was shot in the chest and head on Race street. He was shot once in the chest, the police report says, then as he fell to the ground, “the suspect walked over and stood over top of Mr. Adams. The suspect then fires another round at Mr. Adams, striking him in the forehead area.”

Gary Jenkins, 34, he was shot in the arm on High Street, the report says.

INITIAL REPORT:

Springfield police believe one suspect is responsible for two shootings Tuesday night that occurred only blocks apart.

Police and medics were first dispatched around 10:50 p.m. to a house in the 400 block of West High Street on a reported shooting.

Investigators said the victim, a man, was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not available.

Around 11:50 p.m. officers and medics were dispatched to the 100 block of South Race Street, about five blocks away, on a second reported shooting.

The victim, also identified as a man, was transported by medics to Springfield Regional Medical Center, before being transferred to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Investigators said the victim is listed in critical condition.

Police said the shooter in both incidents appear to be the same, but officers did not provide a suspect description. The connection between both victims and the suspected shooter is unknown.
