Springfield man shot while taking out trash at home

A Springfield man said he was taking out the garbage Saturday night when he was shot.

Springfield police responded to Springfield Regional Medical Center to speak with a man who had been. The man said he was taking out the trash Saturday night at around 10 p.m. on the 1300 block of Perry Street.

“(The man) stated he was taking the trash out at his residence when he heard one gunshot,” the report says. “(The man) turned and ran back to the house and attempted to get inside the house. He stated as he tried to get into the door the window of the door shattered and cut his arm. (The man) stated he did not see who shot him.”

The victim had a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a large cut on his left forearm, the report says.

“(the man) was treated at Springfield Regional Medical Center and then transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight,” the report says.
