Springfield police began their investigation when they were called to a home on the 200 block of Oakwood Place early Monday morning, according to an affidavit.

“At that point, Mr. Ali began punching (the woman) in the face,” the affidavit says. “She estimated she was struck in the face about eight times. Mr. Ali then struck (her) in the stomach with his nee several ties. He then took her cell phone out of her hand.”
