William W. Brewer, 22, of 2743 Elmore Drive, was charged with possession of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and domestic violence. He’s expected to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. today.

While driving on North Limestone Street at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, a woman Brewer knows said he became upset because she wouldn’t take him to get drugs. Brewer then struck the woman in the face and threatened to kick the windows out of her car, the report said.

Once they arrived to the home on Elmore Drive, Brewer began breaking things and threw a personal space heater at the woman, who told police she is seven months pregnant. The heater hit the ground before striking the woman, the report said.

Police then found Brewer sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in Burnett Plaza, where he had allegedly just taken drugs. The driver of the vehicle told police the man had allegedly hidden needles in the backseat of the car, the report said.

The Springfield Police Division’s K-9 unit then searched the car, finding a crystal-like substance inside a plastic baggie believed to be methamphetamines, the report said. The K-9 unit also found a yellow piece of paper with a broken pill folded inside of it, which Brewer told police was Subutex. He said he had a prescription for the drug, the report said.

Brewer was placed in the Clark County Jail.
