Clinton Renz is arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court Monday. BILL LACKEY/STAFF

Springfield police say a man exposed himself to a neighbor and the neighbor’s 11-year-old son during an argument.

Clinton Renz, 48, was charged in Clark County Municipal Court with public indecency. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $500.

Springfield police began their investigation on Friday when they were called to a home on West Jefferson Street, according to an affidavit filed with the charges. A caller had advised that Renz had exposed himself to the caller and his 11-year-old son.

“(The caller) advised that the incident began when he looked out the front window of his residence and saw Mr. Renze talking to (his son),” the affidavit says. “(The caller) advised that he had asked Mr. Renz not to talk to his son before because Mr. Renz is known to act strangely and has had the police at his residence on multiple occasions.”

The man said Renz was wearing a teal-colored bath towel and was standing in the middle of the road, the affidavit says. The men began to argue and then Renz retreated back to his property and dared the man to come onto his property, the affidavit says.

“Finally, after the argument continued for a short time, Mr. Renz untied his bath towel and let it drop to the ground,” the affidavit says. “(The man) advised that Mr. Renz was wearing nothing under his towel and fully exposed his genitalia to himself and his son.”

Renz was taken into custody a short time after police investigated the case. A next court date was not set.
