A Springfield man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly bit a woman’s face because she wouldn’t buy drugs, according to a police report.
Antonio Leffel, 38, pleaded not guilty to both domestic violence and assault charges on Feb. 9 in Clark County Municipal Court. Bond was set at $2,000.
Police were sent to the intersection of Madison Avenue and Olive Street after receiving multiple calls about a man and woman yelling and screaming at each other in the street, the report said.
As they arrived on scene, officers allegedly saw Leffel holding a woman’s arms to keep her from leaving the area, it said. The man and woman were driving in the area to buy drugs, but Leffel became upset when she told him she didn’t have any money and began hitting her, the victim told police.
Leffel later caught the woman on foot and tackled her to the ground, the report said. As she struggled to get away, she hit Leffel so he allegedly bit her in the face, it said.
The woman had cuts on her face and grab marks on her arms, the report said. She was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Leffel remains in the Clark County Jail.
