Springfield business damaged in hit and run crash

A Springfield business was damaged in an apparent hit and run crash Tuesday morning.

A passerby reported to police they saw what appeared to be a U.S. Postal Service truck that crashed into a garage door of Preferred Car Care at 2406 East Main Street in Springfield.

Officers said the postal truck was being serviced at the time by the business, and was not the vehicle that crashed into the building.

Police believe another vehicle crashed into the garage door of the business at an unknown time between Monday night and Tuesday morning. That vehicle fled the scene in an apparent hit and run.

The business owner told investigators that the garage door, postal truck, and a large tool box were all damaged in the incident, but an estimated dollar amount in damages was not immediately available.

The business did not have surveillance cameras according to police. No charges have been filed.
