Report: Springfield man hit in head with brick during fight

A Springfield man suffered a head injury after he was struck with a brick during a fight on Wednesday evening, according to a police report.

Springfield police division officers were sent to the 500 block of Sherman Avenue to investigate a robbery at about 6 p.m. Wednesday. Medics were on scene treating the man for a head injury, the report said.

The man told police he walked down the street to buy marijuana, but his normal dealer wasn’t available, it said. Another man told the victim he has marijuana available and the victim gave him $20. However, the other man then said: “You get going.” The victim tried to get his money back, but the man would not return it and they began fighting, the report said.

During the fight, the suspect grabbed a brick and struck the victim in the head. The suspect then got into a black truck and left the area. Officers could not find the man, the report said.

No charges were filed due to a lack of suspect information.
