More than $1,000 in valuables stolen from home in Springfield

A Springfield woman reported her home was broken into while she was away for the weekend.

Springfield police began their investigation when they were called to a home on the 600 block of East McCreight Avenue on Monday at around 5 p.m.

“She stated she had left her home last Friday evening and was out of town for the weekend,” a Springfield police report says. “She stated when she returned home today, she had discovered someone had stolen multiple items inside the home.”

A side door was slightly open when she returned home, according to the police report.

Listed as stolen were a 65-inch and a 42-inch television and jewelry. The televisions were valued at $800 and the jewelry was worth about $750, according to the police report.

The case is still under investigation, according to the report.
