Man raped woman while 4-year-old in bed, police say

Antwon Smith faces charges of sexual battery, aggravated assault and battery and was in the Palm Beach County Jail on $100,000 bail as of Wednesday evening.

On June 30, Smith came to the woman’s house for a party and later got into her bed, saying he wanted to have sex with her. The 26-year-old told him he was not spending the night and refused his advances, she told investigators. Smith became upset and replied “you’re disrespecting me” and expletives, according to the report.

The woman told investigators she was in a relationship with Smith up until they broke up two weeks prior to the incident. The city where the alleged attack happened is redacted from the report.

Smith but the blanket over the child’s head and took off the woman’s clothing as she told him no again and again, according to the report. The woman told deputies he became more violent so she stopped fighting back while he assaulted her and the child cried next to them.

After, the woman tried to run from the apartment but Smith stopped her by holding out a pocket knife, according to the report. Smith pushed the woman down the steps in front of her home and neighbors heard the commotion and made their way to the apartment, deputies said. Smith fled in his car, the woman said.

Investigators noted bruising and swelling all over the woman’s face and marks on her back.

Smith was previously convicted of selling cocaine, battery and robbery according to court records.
