Man faces numerous drug, gun charges in Clark County court

A man was indicted on numerous drug and gun-related charges in Clark County.

Kevin Cragg, 26, of Dayton, was indicted in Clark County Common Pleas Court on charges of trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, having weapons under disability, improperly handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, failure to comply and having weapons under disability.

According to an indictment sheet, the charges stem from a June arrest were Cragg was allegedly in possession of illegal substances.

Authorities at the scene said Cragg and a woman were arrested after a police pursuit that began as a traffic stop on Lafayette and Maryland avenues. Speeds reached up to 85 mph before the chase ended with the suspects’ SUV slamming into a house at Kenton and York streets, police said.

Cragg and the woman were trapped when the vehicle came to rest on its top and caught fire. Springfield fire crews pulled the occupants from the vehicle and extinguished the flames. Both were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, police said.

Police allegedly recovered cash, 148 doses of heroin, 19 grams of cocaine, 8 grams of marijuana and 46 pills from the vehicle, police said.

A next court date in his case was not available.
