Life sentence for Franklin High grad for friend’s murder in drug binge

A 26-year-old Warren County man was sentenced today to 20 years to life in prison for murdering a friend on Christmas Day 2016, culminating a four-to-five-day methamphetamine binge.

Judge Robert Peeler sentenced Zachary Wilson, 26, on three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and single charges of improperly discharging a firearm and tampering with evidence.

Peeler sentenced Wilson after the mother-in-law of the murder victim, Jeremy Foxx, 24, of Carlisle, said he left behind two young children after a troubled life plagued by mental and physical problems.

“Every day they still ask for their daddy,” Anita Lykins said.

Allison Moore, 20, of Franklin Twp., Foxx’s cousin and Wilson’s former girlfriend, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for tampering with evidence in the case.

Wilson, 26, fired at least nine rounds from an AK-47 pistol into Foxx, culminating a five-day methamphetamine binge.

I’m sorry,” Wilson said. It’s a bad situation. I’ve got to live for it for the rest of my life.”

Wilson, a Franklin High graduate living outside Lebanon at the time of the shooting, shot Foxx as they drove with Moore, shattering the back of Foxx’s skull and sending a bullet into one of the homes they were driving by.

The truck crossed through a ditch as Wilson circled back in a futile attempt to find the the pistol before fleeing - first to Caesar Creek Lake Park and then Kentucky.

On Thursday, a victim’s advocate read a statement from a resident of Carlisle into whose home a bullet fired by Wilson went that night.
