The owners of the former Write Start child care center at 702 E. High St. — which has moved to a new location in Enon — reported the old building was broken into sometime in the past couple of weeks.
According to a police report, the owners went inside the building on Wednesday and found damage to the drinking fountain and multiple sinks, as well as missing fixtures and pipes. Copper pipes from the furnace were also taken.
A pair of vice grips found behind the furnace were collected as evidence.
Whoever cut the pipes shut off the water and gas utilities beforehand, according to the report.
The owner had also left her purse inside with an old wedding band in the pocket and those items were gone. STAFF REPORT
