Two Clay County teens are out on bail after they allegedly shot and killed a prized cow that was 7 months pregnant.
Deputies say Drew Cox and Zachary Gary were arrested for the killing after a teacher at their school learned what happened.
Lifelong Green Cove Springs cattle rancher Jim Farley was shocked to learn what had happened to one of his herd.
“Us and these cows got a deal,” Farley said. “I take care of them [and they] they take care of me. “It hurts to see your animal suffer.”
The cow was worth more than $3,000.
Cox and Gary were charged with abuse to cattle.
