Donnelsville man jailed in connection to child rape allegations

A 62-year-old Clark County man accused of raping an elementary school-aged child remained in the Clark County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.

Douglas Lovelock, of Donnelsville, was arrested last week and his bond was set at $75,000. He hadn’t been appointed an attorney as of Thursday afternoon. He was indicted on two counts of rape — victim under the age of 13 and two counts of gross sexual imposition in Clark County Common Pleas Court.

The two gross sexual imposition counts say the victim of the alleged crimes is a child younger than 13, according to the indictment documents.

Clark County Assistant Prosecutor Aaron Heskett said the victim was known to Lovelock and was elementary school-aged. He declined further comment until after the trial, saying he wanted to maintain the integrity of the case.

An indictment sheet describing one count said in June 2018, Lovelock allegedly committed rape.

“Douglas Lovelock did engage in sexual conduct with the victim, and the said victim being less than 13 years of age, whether or not the offender knows the age of the other person,” the indictment states.

The second count is described as allegedly taking place between April 6, 2016, and June 28, 2018, according to the indictment. Similar language is used to describe that charge.
