1 caught, 1 on run in Springfield stolen vehicle case

UPDATE @ 11:29 p.m.: The second suspect Springfield police were looking for in the reported stolen vehicle case has eluded them for now, police said.

A desk sergeant said police are no longer blocking traffic to Villa and Middle Urbana roads and have stopped their search of the Elks Golf Course.

FIRST REPORT

One male is in custody and Springfield police are looking for a second male who ran from them following the pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle.

Sgt. Williams, with the Springfield Police Division, said police at 10 p.m. were using a K-9 unit to search in the area of the Elks Golf Course for the suspect.

Police already has shut down Villa and Middle Urbana roads, setting up a perimeter to trap the male on the run.

According to the preliminary investigation, the pursuit began on North Limestone Street. The vehicle was driven onto Colony Lane, where the two males abandoned the vehicle.
