David J. Maloney, 49, was driving a Lamborghini around 2 a.m. Sunday when Escambia County sheriff's deputies pulled him over for speeding along a Pensacola Beach road.

"During the traffic stop, the deputy developed enough probable cause that David J. Maloney was driving under the influence," Escambia County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Deputy Jacob Holloway told WEAR-TV. "He was placed under arrest and booked in the Escambia County Jail."

The irony in Maloney's arrest is that he is known in the Gulf Coast for his catchy commercials advertising advocacy for victims of drunken drivers.

In one ad, he said, "If you drink and you drive and you hurt someone, don't call me. I'm not gonna represent you, I'm not gonna help you. If anything, I'm gonna be the lawyer going after you."

Maloney was arrested and booked into Escambia County Jail, where he was released around 10 a.m. Sunday on a $500 bond.
